Only those close to me know how important dreams are in my life and how much consideration I give to them. I even started a dream journal early this year (something I should have done ages ago) so I can capture all the amazing and sometimes weird details of the dreams I have. Yes, I know at times dreams don’t mean anything at all and they are just a reflection of events in our lives or something of the sort, but sometimes dreams come with a message. Sometimes there’s a meaning to them. Heck it’s my dream, I can do whatever I like with it. And if I want to live my life guided by my dreams or if I want to try to analyze what my dream meant or make it food for thought, then so be it.

Last night’s dream was one of those I had to write down and I thought I might as well share it here since the message can be very universal. So in my dream I was supposed to stand in line and give this stranger advice on how to solve a problem he’s just shared with us. I was totally unprepared and had no idea how to help him solve his problem…but being me, of course, I did manage to say something and here’s what I said…

He was looking down feeling sad, and I held his face in my hands, making him look up and I said:

“I don’t know how to solve your problem, but here’s what I do know. You need to keep your chin up. I know it is not much advice, but I want you to promise me that you will try it out for 1 week. See what you can come up with during that time with your chin up. And if it doesn’t work, then you don’t have anything to lose from trying.”

That was it. Even my subconscious mind is a coach working at it in my sleep! They say that you can be any or all the characters you see in your dream. So I could very well be giving that advice to myself, and a very well needed piece of advice I might add.

Who doesn’t need to hear it?! I realized that a lot of people don’t even know what it means to keep their chin up. We go about our days and we forget that attitude and ‘how’ we show up for life matters. You can be the best at your game like Happy Gilmour’s golf opponent but with the wrong attitude you will suck and people will think you suck. Who you are being when you wake up in the morning every morning, is something you do have control over.

Tomorrow morning as you look at yourself in the mirror while brushing your teeth, lift your chin up and notice how that little shift in how you hold your face does have an impact. You can’t be sad and have your chin up, you can’t be negative and have your chin up. And when your chin is up, it is easy to be happy, to be positive and to say to your reflection, “You rock. You can do anything. You have an amazing day!”

And do let me know how did your day go afterwards.

Chin up my friends!
